TEMECULA, Calif. – With less than two weeks until the playoffs begin, every game counts for high school basketball programs across the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section.
Rancho Christian took home a much-needed win on Tuesday night against Fairmont Prep, defeating the Huskies on the Eagles' Senior Night. The Eagles are holding steady for a place in the Open Division playoffs, currently ranked No. 4, ahead of St. Anthony and St. John Bosco.
Much of their success this season can be credited to the senior players on their roster, specifically the No. 1 prospect in the class of 2020, Evan Mobley.
Mobley comes from a strong basketball lineage and is a versatile player who is defying the traditional role of a "big" in high school hoops. His mother is a high school state champion and his father played in college and professionally. His brother Isaiah is also a standout freshman at University of Southern California.
After the Eagles notched their eighteenth win of the season, Mobley discussed the team's strengths as they continue the hunt for another state title, and also took the time to pay his respects to Lakers legend, Kobe Bryant, who was killed in a tragic helicopter crash earlier this week.
