LOS ANGELES, CA – Not even halfway through Fanfest and Madeline Sankey has ridden the slide at least a dozen times.

  • Baby born on first day of Dodgers FanFest
  • Shares the love of the game with her dad
  • Clayton Kershaw hit a homerun day she was born

“I love this slide,” said Madeline Sankey.

It is Madeline Sankey’s dad’s love for the Dodgers that bring the family to every FanFest since it’s inception back in 2013. That same year, on opening day, April 1 2013, when Madeline Sankey was born, with the Dodgers game playing on the radio.

“In the delivery room the first voices she heard were her mother’s, mine, and Vin Scully’s,” said Richard Sankey.

Madeline Sankey has been coming to Dodgers games and FanFest events ever since, growing up as a Dodger fan. Her dad thinks she might be good luck considering something rare happened the day she was born.

“It was the day that Clayton Kershaw hit a home run, it’s the only home run he’s ever hit. So I’m not saying that it was thanks to Madeline, but I’m not ruling it out,” said Richard Sankey.

So while Richard Sankey gets autographs from the players, Madeline Sankey can be found having the time of her life in the bounce house.

Soon she takes her bouncing skills to the next level, on the trampoline. Her mom and dad can’t help but enjoy Madeline’s excitement.

When baseball begins, it is another season for Madeline to learn more about the game. As the last couple of years she has gone from being bored, to loving to come to Dodgers Stadium.

“It’s been so rewarding to be able to share something I love with her and to see her light up with joy in these big moments and cheer along with the crowd,” said Richard Sankey.

The family said their opening day baby bleeds Dodgers blue.
