The world's largest media conglomerates are right in Los Angeles.

As they say, if you can make it in Hollywood, you can make it anywhere — and that's exactly what "SOUL" did.

Back in the heyday of "print" media, the Black publication became a powerhouse, covering Black celebrities and authored by Black journalists. They started in LA and quickly took over news stands across the nation. It's no surprise the workhorse behind the paper is a strong woman, who invited Spectrum News' Kelvin Washington into her home — where it all started.
