Up the coast in Malibu, you can find great swells at Surfrider Beach. With nearly a mile of ocean frontage, Surfrider Beach is one of the focal points of modern surfing destinations in SoCal.
Rincon Point State Beach

Even further up in the Santa Barbara and Ventura counties is a public beach called Rincon Point in Carpinteria. This popular surfing spot hosts The Rincon Classic Surf Competition each year.
Known as the “Queen of the Coast,” Rincon Point is one of the most famous surf spots in California, and known around the world for its well-formed waves and long rides.
The beach itself is a narrow rock and sand strip that is truly one-of-a-kind.
Trestles Beach

Down the coast in San Clemente is one of the most well-known beaches in the surfing community — Trestles Beach. Named after the Railroad Bridge over San Mateo Creek near the entrances of the beach, the 3 1/2 mile-long beach attracts surfers from all over the world to experience the perfect wave.
To get to Trestles, you’ll have to walk about a mile from the parking lot down a winding paved trail, but once you arrive, you’ll enjoy some of the last undeveloped coastal areas in Southern California.
Trust us, it’s totally worth the extra effort to visit this world-famous beach.
Black’s Beach

With arguably some of San Diego’s best waves, Black’s Beach can be found in the vicinity of the UC San Diego campus, at the southern end of Torrey Pines State Beach and North of La Jolla Shores.
Black’s is famous among surfers for big winter swells.
