Just two blocks up the street from LA LIVE sits the Original Pantry, an essential stop to enjoy some good cooking on our local tour celebrating former Mayor Richard Riordan’s LA.
We also look at his beachside restaurant Gladstones, which is a place of relaxation, fun and simple pleasures, where the seafood is always fresh and the drinks are always cold.
After many rumors of Gladstones shutting its doors for good this year, it was just announced that the iconic restaurant will still stay open. Eventually, the property will turn into a Wolfgang Puck-operated restaurant, but that transformation is at least a couple years away. Meanwhile, Gladstones will continue to stay in business as is.
On a special edition of "The SoCal Scene," in which we honor the late Mayor Richard Riordan, we take a look at how he transformed the beachside restaurant.
Watch “The SoCal Scene” at 9 p.m. every Thursday on Spectrum News 1 and the Spectrum News app.
