Los Angeles is home to some iconic comedy clubs. Click the arrow above to find out the five best places to get a great laugh in.

Laugh Factory

Hollywood
8001 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90046

Let's kick things off at the Sunset Strip staple: The Laugh Factory, where Dave Chappelle and Dane Cook once had a competition to see who could perform the longest.

Opening its doors in 1979, the Laugh Factory is where to go if you want to see comedy celebrities, for better or worse. Be sure to grab your tickets online and check out their other locations.

The Comedy Store

Hollywood
8433 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90069

Of all the old-school stand-up rooms, The Comedy Store is the only one that's managed to keep its lineups consistently fresh and funny, while staying true to its seedy Sunset Strip roots.

Dating back to 1972, The Comedy Store has three separate stages that host a monstrous array of stand-ups nightly, including their Tuesday night "Roast Battles."

The Improv

Hollywood
8162 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046

The flagship of The Improv chain is one of the most legendary clubs in Los Angeles — maybe even the country.

It's not just a club, it's a scene. You can walk, on any given night, and see one of your favorite comics sitting at the bar, and the main room acts will never let you down.

Come early, as seats do fill up fast. Shows require a two-drink minimum.

The Groundlings Theatre & School

7307 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046

The holy hall of improvisational and character-based sketch comedy operates as a popular theater alongside its extensive program of improv classes.

The Groundlings Theatre & School in the Fairfax district has been entertaining LA audiences for nearly 45 years, with the likes of comedy legends such as Will Ferrell, Kristen Wiig, Lisa Kudrow and many more all take the stage.

Tickets can be purchased either online, over the phone or in-person pending availability.

Dynasty Typewriter at The Hayworth

2511 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90057

And finally, just a stone's throw away from MacArthur Park is Dynasty Typewriter at The Hayworth.

Launched in 2014, the 200-seat performance space is simply "the" alt-comedy space to hit up in LA, bringing a steady mix of up-and-comers and shockingly huge stars, such as Adam Sandler, Conan O'Brien, Fred Armisen and many more.

Please make sure to purchase your tickets in advance.
