Owning a Piece of America, featuring Faith Bautista, empowers Southern California immigrant families by giving resources to the voiceless, and embracing the complexity and diversity of their heritage, one homeowner at a time, one business owner at a time, one person at a time. Each episode features policymakers, corporate leaders, and profiles successful immigrants in SoCal, thereby informing, inspiring, and empowering our diverse neighborhoods. Owning A Piece Of America is broadcast on Spectrum News 1 in Southern California mid-month (Sundays at 9:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and the following Saturday at 10:30 a.m.).
Faith Bautista is the President and Chief Executive Officer of National Asian American Coalition (formerly “Mabuhay Alliance”), a program-oriented nonprofit that provides housing counseling, small business lending, and technical assistance services to minority and low-income populations. She also serves as the Chief Executive Officer of National Diversity Coalition, an advocacy-oriented organization comprised of community, faith-based, and nonprofit leaders working collectively for greater financial equality and economic empowerment for underserved communities.
In 2017, Ms. Bautista was appointed by the Trump administration to the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund Community Advisory Board.
In 2015, National Asian American Coalition re-instituted this microloan program to cater to the wider ethnic minority and low-income populations of California and Nevada. NAAC is a member-organization of California Association for Micro Enterprise Opportunity (CAMEO), and Ms. Bautista and her staff have attended numerous microloan underwriting and other seminars and workshops conducted by CAMEO.
From 2005 to 2010, the then-Mabuhay Alliance administered a microlending program, which Ms. Bautista managed, to provide loans mostly to ethnic Filipino and Southeast Asian small business owners.
