Dave Stoelk joined the Spectrum News 1 SoCal team as a multimedia journalist in October 2021.

A proud native of Agoura and father of two, Stoelk recently moved back to the city. He fondly remembers the neighborhood before the movie stars moved in, when there were just two gas stations and a Denny’s. Although he’s a lifelong resident, he’s still not accustomed to the traffic but feels that LA is the best media market.

Stoelk believes “all news is local” and has won 16 Emmy awards in local news categories from producing to writing and reporting. One of his highlights of his reporting career was gaining exclusive access to the Walt Disney family as a television reporter. He was able to tell the story about the man behind the “brand” and hear stories from Diane Disney Miller about her father, Walt Disney.

When he’s not reporting, you might find Stoelk at Zuma Beach, hiking or snow skiing. His favorite movie is “Trains, Planes and Automobiles,” and he loves The Beignet Truck because he wants powdered sugar on everything.
