LONG BEACH, Calif. — A man believed to be in his 50s was killed and 10 others were injured — one critically — after a pleasure boat crashed and sank in Alamitos Bay in Long Beach, and authorities are investigating Thursday the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Member of the Long Beach Police Department and the Long Beach Fire Department responded at around 9:20 p.m. Wednesday to 110 N. Marina Drive where they learned the 48-foot boat had crashed into a jetty, a local news outlet reported.

The man was pronounced dead the scene. There were 11 people on board of the boat and three victims in critical condition were taken to a hospital, the outlet reported. Some of the people were rescued from the water after the boat sank.

It was unknown if alcohol or speed was a factor in the boat crash.
