COMPTON, Calif. — The Compton Courthouse, which was closed this week due to flooding, will reopen Friday.

Los Angeles Superior Court officials had earlier indicated the building would be closed through at least Friday to repair flood damage caused by a ruptured water pipe. The pipe ruptured sometime last weekend, resulting in a flood that "left the courthouse's public elevators, stairwells, jury room and much of the lobby inaccessible."

On Thursday, however, court officials said the building at 200 W. Compton Blvd. will reopen for business Friday morning, one day earlier than anticipated.

The building was closed for more than a week in early January following a similar pipe break.

Court hearings that had been scheduled at the building this week were relocated to other facilities.
