Overall violent crime, homicide down in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES — On Wednesday, LAPD released 2023’s crime statistics that showed overall violent crime down 3% and homicide down 17% compared to 2022.

Community organizers like LaNaisha Edwards, who has lost two brothers to violent crime and now works with Crime Survivors for Safety and Justice, are celebrating the positive trends and hoping to continue them.
