LOS ANGELES (CNS) — A 34-year-old Woodland Hills man is in custody on suspicion of murder Sunday after four people were shot at the Fallbrook Shopping Center and one of them died.
The shooting was reported at about 3:45 p.m. Saturday in the center's parking lot in the 22900 block of Vanowen Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
"One of the victims met with the suspect for unknown reasons. An argument ensued between the suspect and the victims when the suspect produced a handgun and began to fire at them," police said.
One person died at the scene, and three victims were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect was seen fleeing the area in a red Honda. Officers were directed to the vehicle by an LAPD helicopter and a short pursuit ensued. The driver eventually pulled over and was taken into custody without incident. Police said a firearm was recovered.
The suspect, identified as Mark Connole, was booked on suspicion of murder at the LAPD's Topanga-area station and was being held on $2 million bail.
The victim's identity is being withheld pending notification to the family.
Authorities asked anyone who was at the shopping center Saturday and witnessed the shooting to come forward, including anyone who captured cellphone video of the altercation before the incident or the shooting.
