LOS ANGELES — Every 12 years, Mexico’s presidential elections coincide with those of the United States. This year, a local organization is helping the Mexican community of LA with valuable resources so they can participate in the democratic process.

Now, for the first time, a nonprofit has teamed up with the LA Mexican Consulate General to get more Mexicans to register to become U.S. citizens. They say the Latino vote has the potential to make a huge difference in California.

And that’s why a national nonprofit is focusing on communities of color — especially Latinos — so they, too, can make an impact on the democratic process.
