LOS ANGELES — In 2015, the City of LA approved the Mobility Plan 2035 to improve street safety and decrease traffic-related deaths and injuries through extensive networks of transit-priority bus lanes, pedestrian-priority areas and protected bike lanes.
Only 3% of the Mobility Plan 2035 has been implemented in seven years, which has led to calls for accountability from the city.
The Healthy Streets LA initiative, which would require the City of LA to implement its Mobility Plan 2035, is the result of a coalition of community organizations including Streets for All, LA County Bicycle Coalition, Climate Resolve and others.
The Healthy Streets LA initiative recently qualified for the March 2024 ballot.
