ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. – Danna Lewis serves cookies to all her guests at her Orange County home, but it is not just a friendly neighborhood get together. This group, is on a mission to get Congressman Harley Rouda re-elected this November.
Lewis is hosting a group of volunteers organizing and strategizing to help Rouda keep his congressional seat.
“We did something no one believes would be possible last year, when we got him elected two years ago,” she said.

Rouda’s victory in 2018 ended republican Dana Rohrabacher’s 30-year run in the 48th District congressional seat. These are just some of the people working to make sure the Democrats win again.
“We’re trying to organize ourselves a little differently, more efficiently. Improve the quality of work that we do and actually not work quite as hard,” Lewis said.
So, they are discussing all aspects of their volunteer work, from social media, neighborhood outreach, event planning and more.
But why a home and not a public place? She says it’s because this group of organizers are now like family.
“We know if we’re trying to elect Harley Rouda, we already know what our values and our morals are so it’s easy to become very close very quickly and we have,” Lewis said.
Rouda’s official campaign manager, Alyssa Napuri was on hand to support the group and give advice about this year’s election.
“This is my first meeting with them and hearing what they’ve been working on because they wanted to wait and show me everything they’ve been doing over the last few months,” Napuri said. “I couldn’t be prouder that they’ve taken these great systems that won us last year and they’re re-applying them. And we’re going make sure we keep Harley in Congress.”
It is what Lewis is working for, along with the people in her home that has become a political family.
