LOS ANGELES — Voters have a big say in the future of funding for Los Angeles schools. It could come down to Tuesday's vote on proposed parcel tax.

Measure EE would cost property owners more, but the district says it will help improve education for thousands of students and improve conditions for teachers.

There was a week-long teacher strike earlier this year. The district agreed to pay teachers more money and increase staffing to help reduce class sizes, but now they have to pay for it.

What is Measure EE?

Property owners would pay an additional 16 cents per square foot on buildings for which they currently pay property tax.

Los Angeles Unified School District says it will help raise about $500 million a year for 12 years to cover the costs of the agreement it reached with the teachers union.
