LOS ANGELES — Rep. Nanette Barragan came to the Port of Los Angeles to present a federal funding check for $1.5 million as an investment for the first public electric truck charging hub at the Port of LA in Wilmington.

California has set an ambitious goal requiring all drayage trucks to be 100% zero emissions by 2035, and this moment marks a huge step forward in accelerating the transition.

The federal funding that Barragan secured was presented Wednesday to Matt Petersen, the president and CEO of the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator, or LACI.

LACI is part of the leadership group, Transportation Electrification Partnership, that has worked with the Ports and state partners to identify what’s needed to get the drayage industry to transition to zero emissions.
