CALABASAS, Calif. — This week the Joint Powers Authority took a huge step forward toward drought resiliency by voting to create a new local drinking water supply to the region.
The JPA consists of the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District and the Triunfo Water and Sanitation District, and this region relies solely on water from the State Water Project.
The Pure Water Project is an advanced water treatment facility that will provide up to 20% of new water folks who live in northwest LA County and Northeast Ventura County.
The Pure Water Project will take wastewater, turn it into recycled water, then purify it further to create drinking water.
