It has been almost 40 years since the death of Karen Carpenter, but the music she and her brother, Richard, produced is still beloved around the world.

Their story played out around Southern California and a new book documents it all. 

Our own Tara Lynn Wagner visited Downey, where the duo went to high school, and stopped by Richard’s current home in Thousand Oaks, to trace the legacy of the international superstars.
