PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — Construction crews are wasting no time at the future site of Tiger Woods PopStroke Golf in Wesley Chapel.

Groundbreaking at the site, near the Premium Outlets, happened last week, and construction equipment has already been moved in.

Pasco County has worked for the past decade to bring in more sports facilities and tourism, and PopStroke is one of the projects the county has attracted as the company looks to rapidly expand across Florida and beyond this year.

Perhaps more excited than Pasco County is youth golfer Sebastian McGrory.

We caught up with him during a lesson at Heritage Isles Golf and Country Club in Tampa.

“Yeah I'm really excited. I want to go there a lot.  It looks super nice,” McGrory said.

McGrory said only a couple of his friends play golf, but facilities like PopStroke may help get more of them interested in the game.

PopStroke is headlined by Tiger Woods, who said he has fond memories of going to the golf course for putting contests with his dad when he was growing up.

That’s the idea behind the putting entertainment facility in Wesley Chapel.

It will feature two 18-hole, full-size putting green courses, one more challenging than the other.

They are lined with hills, bunkers and hazards to make the game more challenging and visually stimulating.

“They have two courses.  One they say is really fun for enjoyment and another one is really tough.  And it's all made out of turf so it's pretty cool,” McGrory said.

PopStroke in Wesley Chapel is set to open this fall.  

It’s one of four new PopStroke facilities being built and opening later this year across Florida, with other locations in Sarasota, Orlando and Delray Beach.
