CARSON, Calif. — A life of consistent training and a life of constantly competing is exactly the life that Brandon McGee signed up for.
Even though the former NFL and MLB player retired from professional sports this year, he continues to spend the majority of his time inside a gym — primarily with the human performance company EXOS.

EXOS works in partnership with The Trust (Powered by the NFLPA) to put together a six-week program called the Breakfast Club, aimed at helping former players transition to life after their playing days are over.
"A lot of football players have been playing the game since they were 5 or 6 years old and then all of a sudden what you’re accustomed to doing is now over with," said former NFL player and The Trust captain, Kirk Morrison. "How do you transition?”
It's the exact question the Breakfast Club sets out to answer.
For McGee, he began the program simply to get his body back in shape.
"I was like every NFL player when they’re done playing, my body was jacked up. I got out of shape," McGee said.
Slowly he got his body back in shape and in the process he's gained a lot of valuable takeaways.
“When you go home and you’re alone and you’re in pain every single day, and no one understands your mental health. then you’re stuck in an empty place," he explained.
“You get structure again by coming out to EXOS, so it is playing that middle role, especially when you’re trying to figure out what’s next in your career.”
And as he looks for the answer to that question, McGee continues to train; this time not for a practice or a game, but for the rest of his life.
