NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Spilled sewage warnings cover several miles of Orange County coast.
The Orange County Health Care Agency made the decision to post the contaminated water signs due to a 1.4-million-gallon raw sewage spill. The ocean and bay areas from Pelican Point at Crystal Cove in Newport Beach all the way down to the Poche Beach interface in Dana Point and San Clemente are affected.

This problem could last up to three days depending on the weather.
“I can’t imagine how gross it must be right now because I don’t know when the last time it rained was yeah so I wouldn’t go in the water,” said Olivia Koutsky, a Pasadena native who visits Crystal Cove several times a year.
No amount of rain would change Koutsky’s plans. She has been coming to the same beach since she was young.
“No matter what the weather because I’ve never been here in the rain before and I was just amazed by how gorgeous it looks,” said Koutsky.
Koutsky has never seen sewage warning signs on the beach. While she hasn’t witnessed anyone getting in the water, she has seen others walking along the beach despite the rain.
