LOS ANGELES – Who needs napkins when you can have…gloves?

It’s one of the many unique features of Black Star Burger, a restaurant chain well known in Eastern Europe, that has now opened its doors in L.A.’s Fairfax district.

Manager Mikey Leo says the gloves are provided for environmental concern, in addition to surprising diners with an edgy twist.

“Every burger comes with a pack of gloves depending on your size. And we are trying to save the world, one napkin at a time. Each customer will get a set of gloves with their burger, that provides them with an in experience of their own, where they’re gonna be eating with gloves on, and all the juiciness will be flowing into your gloves and you’ll be able to easily clean yourself up after by just taking them off and putting them into our recycling bin,” Leo said.

With over 50 locations around the world, Leo says Black Star captures the global taste buds of burger lovers, and here in Los Angeles, bacon has a special emphasis.

“With our cheeseburgers it goes patty, and then we put crumbled up bacon bits on top, fresh bacon that we cook here in the mornings, and then once we have the bacon juice filled into that patty, we put a layer of cheese on top of that,” he explained.

But Black Star Burger is not just limited to culinary creativity, their first dish technically began in the studio.

Rapper Timati, known as the "Drake of Russia," exploded overseas, establishing his music group, Black Star, and later became one of the founders of Black Star Burger.

His U.S. based partner, Poo Bear, an iconic songwriter, is a partner in all things Black Star, and is excited to see the brand hit Los Angeles in full force.

“You know there’s a lot of burger restaurants in California and Los Angeles that flooded. So we just want to give an experience and the best service,” Poo Bear said.

And that service includes providing unique burger options that appeal to L.A.’s diverse crowds, much like their popular Hawaiian burger.

“One big thing about our clientele, our guests are very diverse. We have the different kind of crowds where you have the group of Russian fans, you have the fans of the street, you have fans of burgers, you have vegan fans coming here to eat a vegan burger, and then you also happen to have people who are part of the environment,” Leo said.

And no matter what group you fall into, finger licking good, just got, well, more sanitary.
