SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. – Quarterbacks can go by a few different names but they’re known mainly as the field general –directing traffic and distributing the offense.
So it’s fitting that as JSerra Catholic High School has started making waves in the Trinity League, they have their own general –General Booty.

The junior transfer QB has helped lead the Lions to their best start in years.
Even though he came all the way from Texas, he’s picked up coach Pat Harlow’s offense quickly and effectively.
“It’s been a great experience coming out here. Hadn’t really spent time around JSerra when I lived out here. I’ve got to know this area better and the school better, and I love it,” said General.
General spent a year at Corona Del Mar before moving to Texas but grew up in Louisiana. Football runs in his blood. In fact, his uncle John David Booty starred at USC in 2006 and 2007 – he knows a thing or two about winning.
“It’s really cool just having him around. Even him being on the field sometimes and just helping me out. Just giving me some advice before big games like these,” said General.
As he preps for what will be the Lions' biggest game of the season when they take on no. 2 in the country and Trinity League rival St. John Bosco from Bellflower, he knows very well what taking down a traditional powerhouse can do for a team looking to make its mark.
“They’re going to be a really good program, and it’s not going to be an easy game where we can just come out and relax. So we’ve got to come out firing. But a win like that would mean everything – put us on the map,” said Booty.
This general is hoping to lead a new wave in the Trinity League.
