CARSON, Calif. – The 2019 NFL season is officially underway in Southern California and Chargers fan Michael Porter was game-day ready on Sunday.
Porter, like the rest of the fans, was ready to see their bolts fire up the field in 2019. The opening Sunday was even more special for Porter, because it was his birthday.
“It’s awesome. We’re number one. I’m in Heaven right about now,” Porter said.
Porter became a fan of the bolts because of his son who lives in Arkansas.
“He was talking about the Chargers all the time. And I end up – He told me that the Chargers were coming to LA and I end up buying season tickets for this year and he ask me to buy season tickets for next year too,” Porter said.
As a season ticket holder, he got a chance to see where his seats will be in the new Inglewood stadium next year. Porter enjoyed the game day experience with his friend John Hunter who became a fan by being their neighbor in Carson.
“I live right across the street. I walked across the street and became a fan instantly. I’ve been coming to the games ever since they’ve been here in Carson,” Hunter said.
Both Porter and Hunter had the honor of being one of the fans holding the flag for the national anthem.
It was a perfect Sunday because the Chargers pulled out a thrilling overtime win, but Porter isn’t satisfied just yet.
“Win the Super Bowl. To be at the Super Bowl game, with my son!”
Luckily for Porter, the Chargers took one step towards the goal on week one.
