SANTA MONICA, Calif. – A mountain lion made a historic move as she crossed U.S. 101 in the Santa Monica Mountains.
The mountain lion named P-65 is one of the radio-collared animals being monitored by scientists with GPS to track their declining populations.
On August 21 between midnight at 2 a.m., P-65 made history by becoming the second radio-collared female mountain lion to make it across the 101.
The Santa Monica Mountains Park Service tweeted that they are not sure where exactly she crossed, but it does appear it was in Liberty Canyon. A wildlife bridge has been proposed in the area to protect crossing animals.

The privately funded wildlife bridge would give cats, coyotes, deer, lizards, snakes, and other animals the chance to cross the freeway safely, providing better access to food and mates on the other side.
It appears she will now move north to Simi Hills.
