LOS ANGELES – Commuting more than 90 minutes to work is all too familiar for Los Angeles drivers.
Los Angeles County tops the charts with the most super commuters in the country. Super commuters are workers who drive 90 minutes or more one way to get to their job.
According to Census Bureau data compiled by Apartment List, a total of 159,132 super commuters hit L.A. streets in 2017, which is up 29,020 drivers from 2009.
Los Angeles also has one of the largest work forces nationwide with 4,435,711 people. Of the total L.A. workforce 3.6 percent are super commuters.
One of the reasons Los Angeles might have such a high number of workers with lengthy commutes could be due to the skyrocketing housing prices.
