LOS ANGELES, CA – A GoFundMe is raising money to feed striking Los Angeles teachers hungry for change.

The rain has not stopped teacher Brandy Alexander from walking the picket line.

“It looks like a good turnout. Spirits seem pretty high. So, we’ll see how it goes,” said Alexander.

For Brandy to keep on fighting for what he believes in, he will need the fuel to marching on.  Zingo Tacos Al Carbon stepped in to feed the hungry teachers of Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools.

When the strike was confirmed, owner Adan Rodriguez wanted to help. That is why he hit the streets to make hundreds of breakfast burritos starting at 7 am.

“I am emotional because I am here with the teachers and part of this project,” said Rodriguez.

The trending GoFundMe account “Tacos For Teachers” was set up by the Democratic Socialist of America, and the International Socialist Organization.

Victor Fernandez is just one of the many activists who helped coordinate the food. The initial goal of $15,000 was met in 11 days.

“The teachers are really happy we’re here. And it’s just great to feed people it’s always this great feeling of giving and being part of something great. I’m not a teacher but how can I help out? And how can I be part of something that is so major in LA” said Fernandez

Brandy looks out at the picket line as he eats his burrito.

“As teachers, we always want what’s best for the kids. It’s unfortunately it’s come to this. But hopefully because of this we will get better classrooms for the kids in LA,” said Alexander.

As he continues to march, donations keep pouring in from supporters who want to feed him and all the LAUSD teachers that are striking.
