PALMDALE, Calif. — Some major improvements coming to both sides of the 14 Freeway in Palmdale.

Mayor Jim Ledford says the City Council plans to approve an agreement with California Transportation Wednesday night to provide construction support for two projects.

"On the southside from the Auto Mall to Palmdale Boulevard, you're going to see a widening effort there. It will allow us to take one of the bottlenecks away,” said Ledford.

On the northbound 14, Ledford says crews will work on the Rancho Vista Boulevard off-ramp, improving and widening the interchange.

Funding for the projects — which total just over $19 million — comes from Measure R. It was approved by voters in 2008 for transportation projects.
