A clusters of small earthquakes near the Salton Sea has emergency officials here in California reminding people that we live in earthquake country.

Residents are reminded that we need to be prepared as we always should be for the next quake.

The agency is reminding people to have emergency supplies in hand, in your home, in your car and at work.

Over 200 small quakes happened last week in the Salton Sea, near the San Andreas fault.

As a result, the Governor's Office of Emergency Services has issued a earthquake advisory until Tuesday at 9 a.m. for several counties including Los Angeles, Kern and San Bernardino counties.

Emergency officials believe the cluster of quakes may have raised the chances of a larger quake on the southern  section of the San Andreas by 1 percent.

Their message? Always be prepared.
