1. Rep. Porter pushes for more transparency in Congress
A bill introduced to Congress by U.S. Rep Katie Porter, D-Calif., would track how members spend their time.
Porter has previously said that she wants to show voters that government works and has steadily introduced legislation she believes will improve accountability. Among her stated goals is campaign finance reform.
2. LAX completes final pedestrian bridge structure for automated people mover
Los Angeles International Airport announced the completion of the final Automated People Mover pedestrian bridge structure over World Way Thursday, moving one step closer to connecting the Tom Bradley International Terminal with the future West Central Terminal Area station.
The construction on the sixth and final bridge closed some roads at LAX, but work was finished ahead of schedule on three out of four nights, according to officials.
3. Former NFL player, 2nd rock climber found dead in California
Two rock climbers were found dead at Tahquitz Rock after rescue crews responded to reports of injuries, authorities said.
A team managed to climb into the steep, remote area and found both unidentified climbers dead at the scene, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department said.
They were identified Thursday as Chelsea Walsh, 33, and Gavin Escobar, 31. Escobar was a Long Beach firefighter who was hired in February, the department said. He previously had been a tight end, playing for the Dallas Cowboys.
