1. DA calls for 'reasonable gun control' in wake of three mass shootings

Los Angeles County’s top prosecutor called Wednesday for implementation of “reasonable gun control” in the wake of three recent mass shootings in Orange County, Buffalo, N.Y. and Milwaukee that left nearly a dozen people dead and almost 30 injured.

The district attorney said people should not have access to military-style assault rifles or so-called ghost guns — the latter of which are typically assembled from purchased or homemade components and lack serial numbers by which they can be identified.

Eric Siddall, vice president of the Association of Deputy District Attorneys, which represents more than 800 deputy district attorneys in LA County, quickly criticized Gascón — who is the target of a recall effort.

In February, the association announced that Los Angeles County prosecutors voted overwhelmingly in support of an effort to recall Gascón.

2. Chargers break ground on new complex in El Segundo

The Los Angeles Chargers have already started work on the 14-acre site, which is slated for completion in July 2024. The NFL team left San Diego for LA back in 2017.

They played in a soccer stadium in Carson for three seasons before becoming co-tenants with the Rams at SoFi Stadium in 2020.

While searching for a location for a permanent facility, the Chargers have had temporary headquarters in Costa Mesa since 2017.

The complex includes three full-size fields, along with a main building that includes team meeting rooms, training space, a rooftop hospitality club and an Esports gaming studio.

3. 'Dark day in Anaheim': Councilman asks mayor to resign amid corruption probe

An Anaheim city councilman asked Mayor Harry Sidhu to step down amid an FBI corruption probe into the Angel Stadium land deal.

Mayor Harry Sidhu led the charge in the city's selling of Angel Stadium and its surrounding parking lots to the Angels owner for $320 million.

An FBI investigator alleged that Sidhu shared confidential information with representatives from the Angels "with the expectation of receiving a sizeable contribution to his reelection campaign."

The city has not heard from Sidhu in "several days."

Osseointegration is a new FDA-approved surgical procedure that permanently anchors an artificial limb into the bone.
