National Dog Day was this week, giving pet owners a great excuse to celebrate the unconditional love that dogs bring to our lives.

"LA Times Today" caught up with trainers at the Zoom Room in Torrance to talk about the importance of dog training and why our pooches deserve a day of celebration.

Mazen “Maz” Alloush is a trainer at the Zoom Room. He talked about the bond owners and their dogs share.

“If you have a dog, you have a best friend. Your best friend deserves all the treats, all the bones. Come to enjoy class and form that bond with them because it’s really important. Let’s just say in the future, you’re having that day that you’re just off, you have that dog and they will have your back no matter what. Sometimes they’re a stress reliever dog. You look at your dog, and you just smile,” Alloush said.

Sarah Sung, who owns the Zoom Room in Torrance, explained their mission.

“Zoom Room is a positive reinforcement dog training facility. We do obedience, agility. We also do enrichment, socialization. We serve as a community for all the dog lovers out there. So many of our clients are coming in with rescues that are two, three, four or five years old. Some of the dogs had prior training. Some have never had prior training. We are a solution for anybody, not just for the puppy owner,” Sung explained.

Sung talked about how much dogs contribute to people's lives.

“We actually need to celebrate our dogs. I mean, they have become such an important part of our lives. They are our emotional support. They’re sometimes our service dogs or our companions. There’s so many dogs out there that don’t have wonderful homes. It’s so important to just take the time to recognize the service and the things they do for us that make and enrich our lives and make things better for us. So let’s celebrate them,” Sung said.
