Luis J. Rodriguez created a sensation with his 1993 memoir, Always Running: La Vida Loca, Gang Days in L.A.

The work told the story of Rodriguez's impoverished, violence - and drug-plagued adolescence, one that nearly claimed his life.

Rodriguez has published award-winning works, ranging from poetry to fiction since then. Now, he's teaming up with Casa 0101 to bring his classic memoir about gang life, to life on stage in Boyle Heights.

The show has now been extended to run through November 24.
