California State Senator Angelique Ashby (District 8) enjoys learning from her job. Speaking with constituents in Sacramento, surveying major issues impacting California, and participating in the legislative process are the tasks she finds the most rewarding. 

Her biggest learning since becoming a state senator is the importance of listening empathetically to colleagues and constituents. She uses this skill to better understand policies and legislation, especially when they may not impact her community directly.
