On a special edition of “Inside the Issues: Decision 2022,” we present a forum of four candidates seeking to become the 43rd mayor of Los Angeles.

Rep. Karen Bass, D-Los Angeles, CA-37th District, Los Angeles City Council members Joe Buscaino, 15th District, and Kevin de León, 14th District, and Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer discussed their plans to address homelessness, police funding and traffic.

Current LA Mayor Eric Garcetti has been nominated to become U.S. ambassador to India. Also, he is unable to seek re-election due to term limits.

The Los Angeles Business Council — with Spectrum News 1 — selected the issues that were discussed at the forum.

The LABC selected the candidates based on two criteria: the ability to garner support and the name recognition to be competitive.

Real estate developer Rick Caruso was invited to participate, but declined due to a scheduling conflict.

All candidates and audience members were required to show proof of vaccination at the event, and the candidates chose whether they wanted to wear masks on stage.

Please note: This program has been edited for time. The forum will be presented in its entirety on the LABC website at labusinesscouncil.org.
