From Alondra Park to Willowbrook, Los Angeles County’s District 2 includes a huge swath of Southern Californians. The area spans 162 square miles and reaches as far north as the 101 and as far south as Lomita.

To the west, you have communities like Culver City, Inglewood and Lawndale, and to the east, Lynwood, Compton and Carson. Since 2008, Mark Ridley-Thomas has represented the nearly two million people living here on the County Board of Supervisors and this year his seat is up for grabs.

Our reporter Ariel Wesler tells us about the seven candidates who are running in the race and what the constituents in that area want from someone on the board.

Jaime Regalado, Professor Emeritus of Political Science at California State University, Los Angeles, talks about the responsibilities of a Supervisor and how race may play a factor in the election.

In a few months, SoFi Stadium, the new home of the Rams and Chargers, will open bringing new developments in Inglewood with it. Spectrum News 1’s Timothy Parker talks to a business owner who is watching the changes happen before his eyes.

District 2 residents Dallas Fowler, a business owner living in Mid-City, Amy Phillips, Director of Senior Services at the Little Tokyo Senior Center, and David Oliver, a real estate agent living in Ladera Heights, talk about the biggest issues in the area and what they are looking for in a candidate.

The Los Angeles County Democratic Party has endorsed Herb Wesson for the seat but some are questioning whether he legitimately earned the endorsement. Mark Gonzalez, Chair of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party, talks about their process of endorsement and how they came to that vote.

And Mark Ridley-Thomas, the current Supervisor of District 2, talks about the issues that face the district and what the biggest changes have been in the area since he has taken office.
