From haunted houses to horror films, scaring people is a serious business for some. In 1983, the well-known Spirit Halloween stores, for example, opened its doors in California, and have grown to more than 1,300 locations across the country.

Local resident Rick Baker once collaborated with MAC Cosmetics to produce an entire makeup line just for Halloween.

And then, there’s tourism. During the day, Chris Nichols works Associate Editor of Los Angeles Magazine, but he also hosts an annual tour of scary places, which he calls the “Spooks Tour.”

 

 

Filmmaker and Director of The Final Girls, Todd Strauss-Schulson, talks about the scariest movies ever and what it really takes to make a frightening flick. Additionally, Gerry Cottle Junior talks about the Rooftop Cinema Club and how they choose which scary movies to show.
