In Focus: SoCal host Tanya McRae takes a closer look at the economic impacts of the coronavirus pandemic in Southern California. McRae sits down with L.A. County Supervisor Kathryn Barger to discuss the Economic Resiliency Task Force and what sectors have been hit the hardest.

Barger also discusses what programs and resources are available for residents who have lost their jobs and are in need of financial assistance to pay rent. They also talk about SafePass, a mobile app that the county has partnered with to expand contact tracing efforts.

COVID-19 has caused many Californians to be furloughed. The Employment Development Department has issued $82 billion in unemployment benefits since mid-March. Due to the changes brought on by the pandemic, a makeup artist who was furloughed in the spring shares how she is now embarking on a career change.
