In Focus: SoCal host Tanya McRae highlights Domestic Violence Awareness Month by speaking to State Senator Susan Rubio.

Rubio has been a champion for victims and written several bills since taking office, including the Phoenix Act and, more recently, SB 1141. Rubio shares with McRae the struggles that she faced after her own experience with domestic violence.

McRae then visits the Baldwin Park Police Department to check out the Domestic Violence Advocate Program, which Rubio helped implement back in 2010 when she was in the City Council. Community Relations Officer and Domestic Violence Advocate Cynthia Espinoza shares how she connects with victims to help them get the resources they need to start their journey to safety and peace.
