LOS ANGELES — A South Los Angeles organization called The Healing Circle LA hosted a Black Women's Appreciation Brunch to mend the relationship between Black men and women.

The event featured free food, drinks, music and self-love activations, creating a safe space for more than 1,000 women in South LA to feel seen and appreciated.

The founder, Joshua Blake-Ham, said he launched the organization to heal generational traumas and change the trajectory of the Black community.

Statistics show that 67% of Black children are raised in a single-parent household, and according to the American Psychiatric Association, the Black community is 20% more likely to experience serious mental health problems than the general population.
