LOS ANGELES — Commissioned in 1913, The Herald Examiner was designed by Julia Morgan for the Hearst family and reimagined and restored, starting in 2015 by Georgetown and Gensler.
The project was awarded the Grand Prize at the LA Business Council’s 53rd Architecture Awards.
South LA’s The Beehive (by Sola Impact) is a five acre adaptive reuse of a former tire factory, now a community hub, awarded the Community Impact Award.
The LABC awarded over four dozen projects for design innovation, honoring projects that “improve communities and neighborhoods in substantial and intentional ways,” says LABC’s Mary Leslie.
