LOS ANGELES — Artist, activist, filmmaker and educator are just some of the descriptors of Ben Caldwell, who was a key member of the LA Rebellion group of filmmakers that formed in the 1970s.

Caldwell founded the KAOS Network in 1984, a community-based creative incubator located in Leimert Park, also known as The Village.

Robeson Taj Frazier, associate professor in the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at USC, formed a friendship with Caldwell in the process of collaborating on "KAOS Theory," which "honors the vibrant and influential communities that continue to shape the cultural landscape of Los Angeles, the African Diaspora, and beyond," according to Angel City Press.
