WEST COVINA, Calif. — A West Covina Dodger fan always says a prayer when the players take the field.
Cyndi Rodriguez believes in the Catholic church, and she believes in the Dodgers. She has since she was a little girl.
“I grew up in East L.A. My dad always listened to it on his transistor radio blaring Vin Scully and it just got into my blood,” Rodriguez said.
She bleeds blue, and on game days, she says extra prayers for her team. She also texts her family during the game and asks them to pray too.
“We all pray, pray together as always, send our prayers up to heaven. God’s listening. God will answer,” Rodriguez said.
She believes in this team’s talent, and she believes in divine intervention. She believes both help them win.
When the Dodgers defeated the Atlanta Braves in the NLCS championship, she thanked God.
“Our prayers were answered!” Rodriguez said in a text message. “Believe!”
The Los Angeles Dodgers will face the Tampa Bay Rays in World Series. Game 1 is Tuesday at 5 p.m.
