PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – Pajama Monday, pajama Tuesday, pajama Wednesday... well, you get the point.

During statewide and local safer at home orders, many of us can fall into a routine of staying in our loungewear all day long. But one mother and daughter duo are designating one day every week to snap out of the pattern and get all dolled up — even if they have nowhere to go.

“The first week we were home we just fell right into lazy days. We woke up, we stayed in pajamas all day," said Brooke Stuessy. "It was pretty bad and so by Thursday, the days were kind of just all melding together."

Her six-year-old daughter Addison had the idea of dressing up on Fridays, for what they called "Fancy Fridays."

Not only was it an excuse to wear many of the outfits bought for special events that were now canceled, it also brought them some sense of normalcy during what can feel like an endless amount of time spent at home.

“It does make the weeks go by a little faster and make us feel a little bit more normal," Stuessy explained. "Even just walking by a mirror in your house and you kinda feel more normal.”

"In the morning I wake up and I'm excited to do it," she continued. "That means we’re starting another week and hopefully every week that goes by we’re another week closer to this being over.”

And that's why she and Addison hope more people will join in on the fun — bringing a whole new meaning to the phrase, 'All dressed up with nowhere to go.'
