T’was the weeks before Christmas, when all through Larchmont, not a person was stirring - not even a horn honk.

The store windows were decorated for the holiday with care, in preparation for a contest that soon would be there.

But inside the stores the frantic, the fury. Making the displays just perfect to win all the glory.

“I want to win. Period," says Louis Eafalla.

Eafalla, the owner of Village Heights, says his window is all about the glitz and glam with golds and reds, different than what others may do.

“I’m not a traditionalist, I like to shake it up a little.”

Eafalla has participated in the Larchmont Window Contest for six holiday seasons, he's even won a couple of times.

“Last year I didn’t win, but I’m taking the prize back this year," says Eafalla

It’s all in good fun. Everyone gets involved and he says the competition is always tough. Eafalla has been in Larchmont for 13 years and says that it’s a real community.

Just down the street, owner of Flicka, Kristen Sato feels the same way.

“It’s a very merry time for me. I grew up in this neighborhood. I have some childhood memories here and different stores really embraced us kids," says Sato.

Now she gets to do the same in her children’s store for future generations. She’s happy to make Christmas dreams come true and it starts with the window.

Sato has won the window contest before and says that it's all about the friendly competition and that it brings the neighborhood together.

“Year round, 365 days a year it is a community. Everyone knows each other, but especially during the holidays there is this extra special sentiment that everyone feels," says Sato.

The competition is underway in Larchmont Village and the winner is expected to be announced soon.
