Maxwell Wilson isn't your typical seven-year old. He's an author — one who writes and produces colorful, adventure books.

And while some might find it difficult to continuously create new storylines, Maxwell says the process is actually pretty simple.

“I watch something and [then] ‘bang,’ right in there,” he said pointing to his head. “I get some paper, a stapler, some pencils and then just start writing.”

The Orange County native isn’t just writing for fun, he’s writing to help those in need.

“He’s always been a bit of an old soul,” his father, Steve Wilson says.

“That energy kind of followed him and inspired him to want to donate through his bookstore.”

In October, the Wilson family created an online bookstore for Maxwell to distribute his one-of-a-kind novels.

“I saw a lemonade stand and they were getting money, but then I said no, no money,” Maxwell said.

In lieu of payment, Maxwell asks customers to donate to the Children’s Hospital of Orange County, a place he spent time in as a toddler, when he suffered from a series of respiratory infections.

Although he was there just a few days, the experience left its mark on the entire family and prompted them to make a difference.

Since October, Maxwell has raised nearly $1,000 dollars.

But it's not about quick action for Maxwell. It's about making a long-term impact by writing one page at a time.
