LOS ANGELES — Pets of the Homeless estimates 5% to 10% of homeless people have dogs and/or cats.
In some areas of the country, the nonprofit estimates the rate is as high as 24%.
To help, Pets' Landing (K9 connection), a project of The People Concern, and the Street Dog Coalition in collaboration with the Inner City Law Center have hosted a free summer clinic and fair for pets of homeless people to provide essential services and resources.
The list includes a pet medical clinic with wellness exams, vaccinations, flea medication and more.
Jocelyn Ascencio brought her Basset hound Sito to the most recent clinic held June 10, 2023, on Skid Row in LA.
