LOS ANGELES — For months, Spectrum News has been reporting on how there are housing units for homeless veterans going empty in Los Angeles. While a block away, homeless veterans deemed 100% disabled are being turned away from that housing.

An estimated 8,000 veterans nationwide are being rejected from housing and services because of eligibility restrictions surrounding their disability benefits.

This past week, local and national leaders got involved to try to solve the issue that Rep. Mark Takano called "absurd."
