LOS ANGELES — Every Thursday morning, you can find Rachel Sunday on her bullhorn, calling out for the next person in line to take a shower, free of charge, to anyone experiencing homelessness in Venice Beach.

“They don’t have any privacy out here so I tell them they can take a 15 minute poop, they can take a 15 minute shower, they can take a 15-minute nap,” she said.

Sunday offers the free service through her nonprofit called “Power of a Shower” and it’s a family effort with her husband and daughter helping out. She works full time as a health insurance broker and this mobile shower service is her way of helping the community. Sunday says she learned how to do it through a nonprofit accelerator called “LavaMaeX.”
